IP: Patent Law

For more than 40 years, the UNH School of Law, and its Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property, have been global pioneers in hands-on intellectual property (IP) education. Our flexible online 30 credit Master of IP focuses on patent law and can be completed full-time or part-time.

  • Full-time program must complete the degree in 12 months.
  • Part-time online students must complete the degree within three years.
  • UNH is ranked No. 5 for IP law by U.S. News and World Report  and has been ranked in the top 10 for more than two decades. 

Among the possible types of IP careers, patent law is unique. The value of patents is primarily determined by the scope of claims granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). Be a part of the most respected and comprehensive patent law program in the nation.

Who Should Enroll?

The IP master’s degree program is a good fit for domestic and foreign engineers, scientists or business professionals who want a specialized degree.

Admissions Criteria

Admission to the UNH School of Law occurs twice a year in January or August. Your application form must be completed 2 weeks prior to the start of classes.

Applicants to the Master’s degree program must hold a baccalaureate degree prior to matriculation in any UNH School of Law interdisciplinary Master’s degree program.  A law degree is not required.

Submit an application to the UNH Law School with the following:

  • Two letters of recommendation

  • Resume

  • Transcripts

  • TOEFL or IELTS score

  • Essay
